Short Story Character

(PoV of policeman)

Been a long day today, chuffed to fin'lly be home.
Just the usual, y'know, some ruffians makin' trouble on the strip as always, graffiti, keyin' cars, you name it.
Some funny-looking bloke too, lanky, dark looking - I dunno wot 'e was doing but 'e looked very suspicious an' all... wanderin' around in dark alleyways. I didn't wanna get too close, y'know? I mean, I was on neighbour'ood watch an' all, but this guy, eh I could 'ardly frame 'im for doing some'in wrong y'know? I was a bit wary an' all... almost went up to 'im at one point an' said "eh look 'ere laddie, you best be on your way now" but nah, it was nearing the end of my shift an' all... too much more than what it be worth to get involved an' all.
Anyway, apart from that I been 'avin' a good day an' all, Jay brought me a doughnut and we 'ad some coffee durin' our break, had some fine girlies servin' us at the coffee shop too.
I better be gettin' myself some o' that sleep now, too soon time will come to prepare for another long day t'morrow.

Thank you

To my little sister. We need to talk. I don't show my appreciation of you as much as I should. I might have to leave you soon, to go to university. I'm going to miss you a lot. I love coming home and hugging you first, then annoying you to play a game with me. I love seeing your withering glare, then your face breaking into a smile. I don't remember everything in my past with great clarity, but I think it is the important memories that stand out.

All those times you've made me happy when I was sad, or hugged me when I was angry. Those times you wander into the basement looking for me but then don't tell me why.

When you bring your loud, obnoxious friends over and they seemingly invade every inch of the house, lurking around every corner. When you don't mind when I come into your room just to annoy you or watch TV with you, or watch you playing a game. When you're trying to be serious, even when I come up with more of my ridiculous ideas, or attempt to make jokes that aren't very funny.

Some day you're going to grow up, but even if you're taller than me, you'll always be smaller than me, and I'll still cuddle you and you'll still be my little sister, no matter what. I love you. -Prashantha

A 55 Word Story

Numb

His eyes blearily open, feeling the cool metal headboard against his back. A lady in uniform enters with breakfast; toast, a banana, coffee with a small milk carton. Using his arms to lift his body further up, he realizes something is wrong. He cannot feel his legs. He peeks under the covers, and sees nothing.
