Nonsense Poem

Little Frapple's Lesson

There once was a frapple,
A frapple there was.
A brange little frapple,
That frapple it was.

It flighted its konder,
When flighting its life,
And looked beyond yonder,
A strallable trife.

Fell from its drome,
And rolled to a stop.
As it dandled its journey,
A blingle de blop.

The blingle de blop,
Silfered up to the bole.
Hopped on as a Dinker
Blipped into a hole.

"A scroodle!" said the dinker,
A greeting of sort.
As it fell, and it fell,
To the bottom of shmort.

Frapple watched dinkle,
As it squished at the bottom.
And it learned not to follow,
For the dinkle, it crottomed.

  1. This is definitely one of my favorite poems. I think it's really funny and it is super random, but the reader can follow along and figure it out as they go. Really well done.

  2. I adore this poem. Nonsense poems seem easy but are actually very difficult. Your seems to follow an actual plot in a nonsensical way which is one of the hardest aspects of writing a nonsense poem. Way to go Prashantha! You are a great writer

  3. I smiled when you read this aloud in class, and I can't stop smiling as I sit here reading it. I can't even begin to imagine how you came up with this and the thought that went behind its creation. Although this piece is utter nonsense, I still find myself, as a reader, easily able to follow along, and that's the beauty behind nonsense poetry. Kudos to you for being able to write such an incredible example of this incredibly peculiar style of writing!

  4. This was definately more awesome when you read it aloud then reading it. But thats mainly because of your badass accent. It is a nonsensical poem, but for whatever reason it is very easy to follow along
